What’s a man’s favorite part about Thanksgiving, besides the food of course?…Football! Yes, there’s the big game, but before that there’s the ever anticipated and overtly competitive Turkey Bowl. One of the few times a grown man can feel like a kid again. Taking last place on the list is probably beer most would agree, so on that note… I’m sure this “Turkey Bowl Bar” would be a welcome addition to this year’s holiday tradition!
So, as much as I would love to take the credit for this post’s theme, I have to hand the trophy to hubs. When my buds at Oriental Trading asked me to put together something fun for Thanksgiving, I jumped at the chance! I wanted to create something unique that you guys would love, but ended up running through the typical list of Thanksgiving table decor, recipes, and routines. That’s when hubs chimed in with the idea to put together something involving the Turkey Bowl. I was like babe, you’re a genius! 😉
I have to say styling this shoot was a nice change of pace! I really wanted to keep it very masculine and mature, the complete opposite of my typical aesthetic! (I mean after years of being a little girl’s party planner…I pretty much eat, sleep, breathe, and exude glitter. 😂)
Isn’t this cream cake just gorgeous though? I loved how it looked sitting on a simple bed of grass; adorned with nature’s little treasures, pinecones and pumpkins…It almost looks too good to eat!
Soooooo do you wanna know the secret to my perfectly plain cake?
It’s fake! Yea, seriously. This was my first time using a faux cake for a styled shoot and I have to tell ya I am hooked! I bought this little beauty on Etsy from Confection Deception. (Such a cool name right?) Well, these treats are perfect for party stylists like me or for parties, period. You can substitute it on display for a real cake and just keep a sheet cake in the kitchen to cut and serve. No one will ever know your beautifully displayed desserts are a faux. #PartyPlannerHack
I also wanted to keep the vibe very warm and inviting, so I basically just plucked anything wood or rustic I found lying around the house to get the look. What’s great about this is that is makes it super affordable, so don’t be afraid to shop your own home!

The snacks I kept simple…because it’s all about the beverages at the bar, right? So, handy bites like popcorn and chips did the trick! I mean really, I think the whiskey dispenser is definitely the highlight of this harvest spread…and those mini football shot glasses made pouring the perfect shot a breeze! But just in case the guys needed a sweet pick me up before the last down, I laid out a little apple pie with all the fixings…and by fixings I mean pomegranates! 😂
Until next time,
